Lamborghini Aventador

It is an exciting day for car fans when a new Lamborghini comes along. Today is no exception.

The Aventador uses a 6.5 litre V12 engine that produces, wait for it, 690bhp! 690? That's huge, that's enough to fire an elephant three miles through the air, probably. It also produces 508lbs/ft of torque, which isn't small. Combine that with four wheel drive for superior traction and you're left with a car that get 60 done and dusted in 2.9 seconds, half the time it takes an Audi R8 4.2 V8 Spyder in other words. Once it's finished accelerating it'll be travelling at a colossal 217mph, so that's wasting nearly an M3s top speed when the speed limit is taken into account. The performance here is absolutely mad.

But don't think that this car is all straight line and no corners, because it isn't. Extensive measures are taken to keep the weight down and I'm not going to bore you going into them all and will tell you the most significant. It features an all new carbon fibre tub. The end result is that it weighs just 1575kg dry. With fluid on board? I'm not sure. It also features a new steering rack, thick tyres and like I said before, four wheel drive. The result is something that steers with great response and brilliant grip. It's likely to obliterate a Mucielago around a track, in fact, I'm sure it will.

The styling is nothing short of dramatic. It looks every bit a proper supercar and extremely intimidating. I really like it. I love the massive exhaust, I love the triangular tail lights, I love the Reventon style nose and I love the massive air intakes on the sides. Thing is, for all its aggression it still looks very clean and smooth. It doesn't look messy, it looks, in an odd way, like a Countach without the sharp edges. I love it. I reckon it's nicer looking than the Mucielago and that's saying something.

The interior is also better. It's much cleaner, more modern. It still looks more aggressive than a Mucielago however and the perceived quality is  much improved too. It's the materials that make it seem better more than anything else. I have to say that I like the layout as well. It's not stupid or disorganized, it's very sensible and good to look at, I'm thanking Audi for this.

I have to admit that when the Mucielago was killed off I was sad to see it go. I liked it a lot. I loved the noise and the panto and the looks and the speed and even the interior. I'm sure I would've hated the running costs but I'm sure I wouldn't love the Aventadors either. Thing is, when it comes to everything else, I think I would love it!

The Aventador looks set to become one of the top contenders for supercar of the year alongside the Mclaren MP4-12C, and reading the Mclarens name again makes me realise, I love the name as well. Aventador, exquisite.

Thanks for reading.
