Yes you do, a lot in fact. Don't believe me? Then read on, you little non believer.
Being a motoring blog it is probably quite obvious that I'm talking about having faith in your car. Now you might not realise it but every time you step in and turn the key to fire the baby up you're putting a lot of faith in that machine, trust to.
When you're out and about you are quite literally trusting that thing with your life. What's to stop it from having some kind of mechanical malody that causes it to overheat and blow up leaving you with no brakes to stop from hitting the nearest tree? What's to stop the tyre from blowing sending you careering off into some gorge? Nothing is what. You just have to have faith that it's not going to happen, or just stay at home, or walk I suppose, but in 2011 that's hardly an option.
There is also the fact that a car in reality doesn't ever want to go round a corner. A car left to it's own devices would be quite contempt to go straight on. Although you can't actually feel it with power steering the force it takes to make the front wheel go anywhere other than straight is quite a sizeable amount. In essence you just have to sterr the wheel and hope the car obeys. If it doesn't? There's a tree nearby that's telling you "prepare to meet your maker".
Believe me now? You also have to have faith that there isn't going to be minor mechanical malody that stops you from reaching your destination. Every second you're driving your car you're putting a lot of faith in it, and trust to. If you're still a non believer then you're probably immune to basic emotions.
Thanks for reading.
