And that brings me on to the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento concept. As we learned in last nights Friday Vlog, I know it was Saturday, it has been tipped for production. About the Friday Vlog, do you suppose I can't get it out on Friday no matter what I do because I called it the Friday Vlog rather than the Weekly Vlog? I'm sorry back to the Sesto.
It will use a Gallardo 5.2 V10 albeit a tuned one. It isn't known how much power it'll produce yet as Lamborghini hasn't actually started any major work on the vehicle. I would expect to see something just below 600bhp as a rough target. That might not sound like too much considering Lambos bold plans to have this compete with the Bugatti Veryon, especially so when you consider it is going to cost £1.77 million.
But when you consider the main focus of this vehicle, which is lightness by the way, then it starts to sound like quite a lot. The target weight of the car is just 965kgs. That's less than a ton, in fact it's the same weight as my Ford Fiesta. In essence then it's going to be a Ford Fiesta that has 600bhp. I'm sure that'll translate into a driving experience that's intense and dramatic. When you consider the fact that it has four wheel drive, which could be changed to rear wheel drive I hear, then it'll shoot off the line. Lambo hopes 60 will pop up in under 2.5 seconds.
It goes without saying therefor that the Sesto Elemento is going to be a lot more sosphisticated than a Fiesta. The car will be produced predominantly out of Carbon Fibre with a Carbon Fibre tub at it's core construction. This means that the weight, the little of it there is, will be centred around the middle of the car. This is brilliant for the driver as the car will have near perfect balance. In essence there will be no weight at the front causing understeer and not too much at the back causing pendulum like effects. The lack of any wieght should make it very responsive, in fact, too responsive for the road.
The issue of the road brings me to the interior and what you can expect in terms of creature comfort. Not much. To keep the weight down I imagine Lamborghini is going to have to skimp on gadgets. I don't think you'll see any aircon, or indeed anything at all. It'll probably be a bit like a Zonda R on the inside. I haven't seen any images of it yet so I can't say if it'll be well organised and nicely styled.
What I can say is that I hope it retains the concepts looks. It is absoloutely stunning, one might even say intense and dramatic. It's all angles and straight lines, definately not a curvacious beauty, but definately an aggressive beauty, kinda like a kick boxing Jennifer Lopez! The way it looks gives you the impression it's going to be a maximum attack, no compromise type of vechicle. I like that.
In fact I like the sound of it all. My comments about Black Swan may seem a bit out of place but in fact they are perfect. The Sesto is going to be intense, dramatic and even tragic. Why tragic? One day, they'll stop making it, that's why. In essence then Lamborghini is going to make a Black Swan, and believe me when I say that no one has ever said that before and I doubt no one will again.
And for your visual pleasure I've loaded up a bigger image of Cheryl Cole from yesterday.
Thanks for reading.
