Racing Cars

I only have a short blog today as I've been elbow deep in holiday preparations.

I was inspired to find out more after last Sundays Hill Climb event that I went to. My Mum asked me how much it would actually cost to buy one of these cars. So when we got home I went on the internet to find out. I found one of the cars that had been competing, well one like it anyway, called the Gould GRM55. It has a 3.5 litre detuned Cosworth engine in it and goes blisteringly quick. To buy the one I found online would take up £90,000 of your pounds. I also found a 1998 Minardi F1 car for £220,000. It sounds like a lot of money but in fact it isn't really, not for an F1 car. From the bargain sections I found another type of Gould for £17,000 a Jedi single seater for around £7,000 and even a Formula Renault for £20,000.

I was a little shocked to say the least. I was expecting to see prices a little higher than that. All of the cars I've mentioned are single seaters and whenever I see a single seater in action it blitzes everything else around it. Having said all that I wouldn't want to guess the cost to actually run it. These things aren't known for being frugal and they definately aren't known for being cheap when it comes to tyres either.

Then again the tradeoff in intial price and the pace they deliver isn't that bad. And just in case you're unclear of what types of vehicle I'm talking about here's a short video taken with my mobile. Thanks for reading and please join again tomorrow.
