Sorry about my absence yesterday, taking a little break from blogging.
Today I went along to an event called Castle Hill Climb. It takes place near Restormel Castle, about a quarter of a mile away from Lostwithiel in Cornwall. There are a couple of reasons why I enjoy the event so much. The first is that there is always a wide variety of vehicles taking part. This year we saw a Porsche Boxter, some Westfields, some bikes and some single seater race cars among the usual blend of Ford Escorts, Minis and MGs. My video only shows the single seaters.
The second reason is that you get very close to the action. As my video shows, I was standing on a grass bank, pretty much on top of the track itself. This ensures that you are fully immersed in the sights, sounds and smells of motorsport. The other reason is that given the track is actually a country lane, the action is very entertaining. Today I saw a big crash, a drifting E30 M3, some sidecars and a hyper fast Gould GM (the kast car in the video). There are some who don't quite get that much speed up, like the fellow who was a tad nervous in his late 80s, early 90s MR2. Then you get those who absoloutely gun it, like the Gould did.
My video should give you an idea of what it is like to attend. What you see in the video is pretty much the whole track, the corner they start on and the home stretch aren't visible from where I was standing but I could see everywhere else. I will apologise for the video quality because it's taken on my new mobile phone, since I didn't get the idea to blog until I was there I didn't think to take my HD camera. In fact it's a good thing I didn't because that isn't waterproof where my phone is. Yes it was sopping wet today! The cars normally go alot faster than in this video.
Thanks for reading and watching, I do reccomend you go and see one of these events at some point, they are great fun.
