Games about cars are always getting better. Recently Turn 10 announced Forza Motorpsort 4.
This is getting me very excited because I like cars (obviously) and I like computer games. This new game is set to have over 500 cars in it. Some of which are making their public debuts in the game, the new BMW M5 and the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento for instance. I've seen some of the cars in the game already and let's just say that the list is very encouraging.
The tracks available are also looking very encouraging. They've already announced Laguna Seca and a new track, The Top Gear Test Track. There are more but I think these two are good starts. The graphics engine has been completely revamped for the new game including a new light engine that allows the light to shine off cars in new detail. This sets the car in the environment better than ever before and most importantly, makes the interior perspectives seem very real!
There's a new mode called Autovista which allows users to take a tour around the cars. You can highlight little bits and like you would in a car show, scan the thing. It'll also tell you facts about the machine and Jeremy Clarkson provides commentary on them too.
The part Clarkson is just the start of Top Gears involvement with this game. What they've done is create challenges for gamers to do in the style of the show and apparently have been crosschecking the performance of the cars to make sure they are as much like their real life counterparts as it's possible for them to be.
Another new thing is Kinect. This allows a hand activated Autovista mode and head tracking. It can do more but the most interesting part is head tracking. What it does ix track your eyes and head as you play the game. It then turns the camera perspective and makes the driver look in the direction you're looking. The idea being that you can turn your head to get a better idea of where your rivals are and get a better view of the apex. There is however a slight problem I'm foreseeing. To make it work you have to move your head and look away from the TV. The TV of course isn't going to move. So to make this work you have to look at something that isn't showing you where you are going! I think this feature is best reserved for multiscreen gamers.
Either way this is going to be a fantastic game. I thank you for reading and hope you'll come back soon!
