New Car Sales Down.

Oh dear, it isn't looking good.

Official figures released state that in 2011 sales are down 6.7% since last year. This is apparently in line with industry expectations. Sound odd to you does it? It shouldn't to be honest. Last year the industry benefited from the scrappage scheme. The fact that sales are down doesn't seem to be troubling any guys in the industry because of that reason.

But I think it is troubling. The reason is partly down to the cars being released. In general the quality of car is going up. I see DS3s, Peugeot 5008s and Merc E classes around and they make me want to own them more. Makes me wonder if I'm the only one. The other thing that concerns me is that it might be down to the constant whining about the environment the government and other people seem to be doing. Is it finally starting to wear people down enough that they aren't buying cars that they otherwise would've done?

I'm not sure the cause but the motor industry seems pretty relaxed about it. I guess that means there isn't much to worry about yet. Saab however must be hyperventilating with stress over the situation. I say that because they announced recently that they are selling shares of the company off to pay the staffs wages. In other words they really are about to disappear for good.

On the other hand the cars that are still going strong are these:
1. Ford Fiesta
2. Ford Focus
3. Vauxhall Corsa
4. Volkswagon Golf
5. Vauxhall Astra
6. Vauxhall Insignia
7. BMW 3-Series
8. Volkswagon Polo
9. Nissan Qashqui
10. Volkswagon Passat
Funny the Bugatti Veryon isn't in that list. Joking aside when you learn that the top car has sold just over six and a half thousand and the bottom car just over two thousand you learn that there is a very large dropoff.

All I can say is that I wouldn't want to be a company that's not on the list. Thankyou for reading and I hope you return to read again tomorrow.
