The new Suzuki Swift is going to be unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show this September.
The engine will be a 1.6 litre 134bhp and 118lbs/ft of torque unit teamed with a six speed gearbox. Suzuki haven't released any official figures yet in terms of performance but my guess would be something like 7.something seconds for 60 and the top speed will be around 130mph. They are not official figures and don't take them to heart but that's what I think the figures will read like.
What Suzuki have said is that the Swift Sport "offers superior cornering stability and brisker, more responsive handling, thanks to struts with internal rebound springs and an exclusive rear-suspension design.” Quite how the suspension design can be exclusive I don't know but the internal rebound springs bit sounds more intriguing. I'm not sure exactly what they are at this point but my guess is that wheel mounting struts will have springs in them as well to help the suspension deal with the many elevation changes in the road.
The styling changes include most notably a larger grille, flared arches, a more aggressive stance, bigger rims and a more defined spoiler. If you like the look of the standard Swift then I imagine you'll love this. To be honest if you look at the changes made on the old Swift Sport compared with the standard model then you'll know what to expect as there isn't much difference.
The cabin is going to be essentially sporty with a high quality look and feel with features that make driving more exciting. That's a not a direct quote but it isn't far off either. Suzuki haven't released any images of the interior yet so I cannot even begin to speculate on what's going to make the driving more exciting. I'm not entirely sure how that's going to happen unless if there's some kind of system that yells encouragement at you if you do something well. I'm not sure but it sounds ambitious enough.
For some reason Suzuki see reason enough to make sure people know that the Swift Sport comes with seven airbags. I think what's more important is a provisional costing and Suzuki haven't released that yet. In any case I think it looks quite good and should be a success. I like it at the moment.
Thanks for reading and please come back soon. For now here's an image.
