This is a secret black project.
In fact it's the project that will end up giving the Mercedes SLS AMG some Black injection. The car has been spied testing at the Nurburgring this last week which isn't good news for James May; who has already said he wants the Green Hell bombed.
AMG boss Friedrich Eichler said back in 2009 that "there is a good deal more to come from the SLS's engine". As it stands the engine produces 563bhp. A good deal more to come? This sounds rather interesting to me.
Autocar has had some inforamtion revealed to them by Merc insiders saying that the engine outputs will be close to 600bhp give or take and the torque figures will climb to 500lbs/ft. Why the round numbers? I have no idea, in any case the revisions include larger air manifolds, higher coimpression ratio yadee yada, yeah it's boring stuff and i'll link you to Autocar if you want it. The tech stuff ends with a locking differential and a beefed up seven speed transmission to handle the extra power.
So with the boring stuff done we can talk figures. Top speed is said to be 208mph and the sprint to 60b should take no longer than 3.5 seconds. These figures make for pleasant reading indeed. The only slight issue with this car so far as I can tell is the SL65 AMG Black, which was in no uncertain terms, a little bit rubbish. I'm hoping Black has learned there lessons with the SLS because they're asking for £168,000 from buyers.
I guess that rules me out of owning this one. In any case that's the end of my blog today and I hope you return again soon for some more car related news!
