Sat Nav.

Sorry about another long break but I have been working on college stuff and preparing for university interviews.

With that apology out of the way I can move on to talk about sat navs. In the early days these little devices would end up taking you near to where you wanted to be, and that means anywhere within a two mile radius. Of course they would every so often take you to your destination but more often than not you would have to revert to a map once you had apparently arrived at your destination.

I've used and been in a car where sat nav was used five times now, all in the last 12 months, and every time it delivered the vehicle at the destinations door. I think it would've told my mum to drive through the glass doors at UCA Farnham!

What has struck me on every occasion is just how easy the instructions were to follow. Enter roundabout, take 2nd exit. How hard is that? Not very is the answer you're looking for. Yesterday I made my first long journey in my car by myself, and thanks to the sat nav (a Garmin produced one) I was able to relax and enjoy it, rather than worry about whether I had gone the wrong way or not.

Before I was extremely skepticle about sat navs but now I'm convinced they are at a level where they can be a realistic alternative for maps. Mine even knew a road was closed and directed me on the diversion route without recalculating. Amazing.

Here is the link to the Garmin website if you want one yourself. The one I used for Bournemouth was the Nuvi 2000 series.
