A Shock new 22K Jag

OK just in case you don't read Autocar but read my blog instead then you may have missed that Jaguar have announced a new small saloon to rival the Audi A3 and the Merc CLC.

The car should be launched by 2015 and it is thought that it will be 4 and a half metres long and powered by a range of engines from a 1.5 litre all the way to a 2.0 litre turbocharged unit.

The thing is the last time Jaguar made a car like this one it was called the X Type and it didn't do very well at all. It was unloved and largely avoided by many right thinking people. Despite that it is thought that this has been forced on the company due to even more stringent EU emissions regulations. Basically they charge a company if the average CO2 given off across the range of vehicles is higher than they say it should be. Because of that average being lowered Jaguar are developing this although they say they want to make it.

And so they should because they are talking about a car that gives off only 100g/km of CO2 and still produces 170bhp. In my mind that is quite a tasty recipe for a top seller. I would also like to suggest that it will look good but that's pure guesswork because Jaguar havn't shown any pictures of the car. Autocar have an artists impression but I can't take it too seriously. In any case what they drew up is pretty good looking and since Jaguar tend to make good looking cars then I reckon this will be too.

I think Jaguar could be on to a winner here. An affordable (22K) small luxury exec car that is moderately quick and probably good looking with a top class interior. I cannot see how this won't work.

Well thankyou for reading andI hope to see you back again tomorrow:) Haha yeah I'm getting more down the internet lingo every day, hence the smiley face.
