I find Saab odd.
Saab is just a car company. What is your specialist subject on Mastermind Glen? The bleeding obvious. I bring this to your attention however because Saab, unlike any other car company I can think of, has a general feeling of good will toward it.
No matter what car mag you subscribe to or read regularly you'll be reading non stop reports of Saabs imminent departure from existence. You'll read financial crisis this, buyout that and you'll also read something to the effect of "We hope Saab survive through this crisis and the new company can inject much needed life into the brand." You see it in individual columns online, this one included for that matter, stating they don't want to see Saab consigned to the history books.
Today I've read that Saab are seeking court protection from creditors whilst they are waiting for funding from China. The report creates a vision in my head of a little child hiding under a rock from the scary monster. Even so having China as a creditor is not a great thing in itself. I just can't help but wonder if I missed the report that said Spyker had sold the company. I say that because I can't imagine Spyker letting Saab continue to dig a deeper grave for itself.
Either way the last car (the 9-5) to feature GM design cues and technology has been released and hopefully the Dutch can start injecting the much needed character back into everyones favourite Swedish mark. If they don't then it'll be too late for sure.
Even so I want to issue a plea to all ye, hey that rhymed. Buy a Saab now! Even if you intend to never drive it or sell it on straightaway, buy one now and help save Saab. Because now matter if Saab is dead, mangled, without hope of living another second or like a pheonix rising from the ashes, nobody wants to see them disappear for ever!
