I went to my local today, Kart track that is, not pub and had a go in an test Kart, or so I think. Whatever it was it wasn't the normal Kart that I'd become used to! I shall now give you a short Top Gear style What else is new this month review.
What is it?
It's a Sodi (I'm not sure the model) tourist Kart. If someone from St Eval is reading this could you help with that?
What should I Know?
The throttle is really responsive. It has a rather short track. If you touch the throttle then you'll be in drift heaven and if you don't then (well I went wide but that might have something to do with cold tyres) you'll have to find out yourself. Finally, It's flipping fast in the straights!
Should I care?
Yes you should, you should do more than care, you should go on the website right now and watch the news page and wait for a bulletin that reads "Brand new fleet of Sodis!" When you read that go there and have fun!
So that's the Kart in a nutshell. Now for the love part. The Karts normally run are Biz Le Mans and they do 70mph and hit 60mph down St Evals straight, they aren't what you'd call slow. That's even more not what you'd call slow considering adult Karts in America only do 25mph. Anyway the Le Man Karts have been running down there for the last two years and I've been going for all those years and I've driven them so many times that everything is so familiar to me I don't really have to try. I turn up sit in the Kart and go fast and have a blast, it is a blast by the way.
Today I realised that it had become a routine. This Sodi was so different to what I'd gotten used to that I didn't know what to do. In the end I decided to do what made the thing turn into corners, put my foot down and go sideways! For the first time in years I was voyaging into the unknown, I was discovering Atlantis I was drivng a whole new track, I was being challenged and driving the place I'd driven for two or three years completely differently. I think the exclamation when prompted by staff was "It's an animal" It was and it was incredibly good fun and I loved it!
As my review states, you should care about it! Thankyou for reading and I leave you with a video of the more powerful version in action.
