The New BMW M6!

I'm going to let you in on a secret right now. Whenever I blog about a BMW I always get a little bit nervous. This is due to the fact that my most viewed blog of all time is about the BMW 5 series GT. It helps that this particular blog was one of my first ones. Even so it still eclipses all my other blogs.

So today we look at the new BM M6. Now if you consider power something to be respected then this new M6 is going to be the most respected six series of all time. The reason for this is that it's going to be powered by the new 4.4 litre V8 featured in the new M5 which is good for 552bhp and 502lbs/ft of torque. This should make the new M6 incredibly fast but the problem is that no figures have been released so I'm going to have to make some up. Let's say 0-60 in one second and a top speed of 467mph. Ok those are a bit unrealistic but there aren't any figures out so there you go. Bottom line? It's quick.

As for handling well the indicators look good. The new M6 will feature a carbon fibre roof just like the last one and other carbon fibre parts because carbon fibre is all powerful. What's new to this model? Carbon ceramic brakes and lightweight alloy wheels. The effect of these two changes is a reduction in unsprung mass making cornering more predictable and extra stopping power so that you can get on the brakes even later. Should be good.

According to BMW the M6 is still a car for daily use and "it's just at home on an Autobahn as it is on the Nurburgring" Apparently BMW also insist that the new M6 isn't to be considered a hard edged sports car like the Porsche 911. BMW aren't committed to making a car like that yet but the M division are still attempting to make BMW say yes to a SLS rival. Apparently BMW have actually said they want the M Division to do such a thing but BMW don't think it's viable in a business sense. Strange stance I must admit.

For now that doesn't seem to likely to actually happen but the new M6 will be thoroughly quick and a serious machine. Should be a great car and I will give more details as I get them. For now thankyou for reading and see you again soon.

This is an Autocar artists impression.
