Replacement!

I start by praying for a moments silence! A seconds thought for a car now sadly deceased! My old Citroen AX 1.1 Echo. Alas he will be missed.

With that done I must now turn my attention to finding a replacement. It's not easy if I'm being honest with you. The problem is that the AX was (suprisingly) a rather good car to drive. It had great feel through the wheel and quick turn in abilities. No it didn't have that much grip and yes it's clutch was a pain in my Glutemus. Most intrigingly of all however was that it actually went with a surprising amount of vigor and purpose. This is down to it's weight I figure. 660KG of it to be precise. Power? 55BHP. Power to weight? 77BHP per tonne! Not bad.

So as you can see I'm stuck with a dilema. I could go for something alot slower and save money on tax and insurance or I could plump for something that goes like the AX but costs the same. See the AX isn't the cheapest as it was group 4 insurance. A bit steep I thought and cost £170 to tax for the year. The real dilema is crucially simple in words. Will I miss the performance my AX had?

I suspect yes since I have become a bit of a speedoholic. Well here comes my shortlist for replacements and believe me I do have a long list! It goes like this: Rover 25 1.4 Impression, Ford Fiesta 1.25 Zetec or a Renault Clio 1.2. There was also a Peugoet 206 mentioned but I can't find another one cheap enough.

Hard to choose from. Of course the whole thing would be so much easier if my AX hadn't blown a head gasket. Silly thing could've waited until after Cadwell Park couldn't it?
