A new Aston

I talked about names in my last blog and I'm going to start by saying that I have no problems with this cars name. It's called the Virage.

Yes it's reviving an old name but I'm not talking about the old car. The new car is targeted to sit in between the DB9 and DBS, and it shows. The new car has a few vents in it's bonnet (or hood if you're American) just like a DBS, but, at the same time, has a smaller grille and more rounded front wings, like a DB9.

The overall effect is something that looks sporty, yet elegant. The car will be powered by Astons 6.0 V12 engine that produces 490bhp. Aston hasn't revealed any performance figures yet but you are likely to be looking at 4.2 seconds for a 0-60 time and a 190 something top speed.

One thing that the now familiar Aston interior does get is a new sat nav system. It does away with the old Volvo system, which is renowned for being hopeless, and replaces it with a Garmin system, which as readers of my blog will kow, is a very good system.

My thoughts on this car are all positive. A very good looking car with GT and sporting pretentions. I suspect that this car is likely to supersede the DB9 however, which wouldn't be great for Aston Martin. Despite this, I reckon this car will be excellent for the boys at Gaydon.
