Porsche 918 Spyder

The Detroit motor show has both come and gone. There were quite a few new cars revealed there, well quite a lot really.

As the title of this passage suggests there was one car that really caught my eye. The Porsche 918 Spyder is the latest offering from Porsche and seems to be the spiritual successor to the Carrera GT. On show was the RSR, the racing version in other words. Porsche hopes to get it racing before too long.

But the significant news was that Porsche is considering making a road car based on it. The event seems likely at this time as it appears Porsche has already given it some thought. I know not the information on cylinder size or arrangement but what I can tell you is that Porsche is targeting 740bhp and that the engine will include hybrid technology. So you can think of it as a Prius for the petrolhead. Porsche also revealed that they are hoping to crack a sub 3.0 second 0-60 time which would put it right up there with the legendary Bugatti Veryon.

I know that I cannot convince Porsche to make the car but I for what it's worth I'm going to recommend putting the car into production. Why? Because it looks absoloutely fantastic.
